USCIS received more than 233,000 visa petitions towards the 65,000 general category cap and 20,000 advanced degree exemption cap.

The Boston Globe reports that a federal judge in South Texas granted a preliminary injunction temporarily blocking President Barack Obama’s Executive Action on immigration. The American Immigration Lawyers Association has issued a Press Release predicting that the Judge's order will be overturned, and that applicants for expanded Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals ("DACA") should continue putting together their applications for relief until the hold is lifted.

The reregistration period will run from January 5, 2015 to March 6, 2015. USCIS will also accept new applications for those who did not previously register from January 5, 2015 to July 6, 2015.
